Reference Management

The  Journal of Nursing and Midwifery Innovation requires authors to ensure that all references are relevant, up-to-date, and formatted according to the journal’s citation style. Proper reference management is essential to maintain academic integrity and support the scientific foundation of each published article.

1. Citation Style

The journal uses the Vancouver Style (numbered citation system).
All in-text citations must appear as numbers in brackets corresponding to the reference list.

2. Reference Management Tools

Authors are strongly encouraged to use reference management software to ensure accuracy and consistency in citations, such as:

  • Mendeley

  • Zotero

  • EndNote

  • RefWorks

These tools help automate citation formatting and avoid technical errors.

3. Reference Requirements

  • It is recommended that 80% of references be from the last 5 years, unless citing classic foundational works.

  • References must come from credible sources such as journal articles, books, conference papers, or official institutional documents.

  • Unpublished materials, personal communications, blog posts, and Wikipedia are not allowed as references.

  • Whenever possible, references should include DOI numbers or stable URLs.

4. Accuracy and Consistency

Authors are responsible for:

  • Ensuring that all references listed are cited in the text

  • Verifying that all citations in the text appear in the reference list

  • Checking for correctness in authors’ names, journal titles, years, volumes, issues, and page numbers

5. Plagiarism and Ethical Compliance

Proper citation is mandatory.
Failure to cite sources appropriately may result in:

  • Manuscript rejection

  • Request for major revision

  • Ethical inquiry into academic misconduct
